Kids: son, age 13; daughters, age 10, 6 and 3
Works: stay-at-home mom, though you're more likely to find me in my car
Favorite part about being a mom: When all four of my children are together, just goofing around. No places to go, no activities scheduled -- just hanging out.
Least favorite part about being a mom: The clutter, goody bags, empty cereal boxes, Happy Meal toys.
Famous for: Laughing and talking too much.
One Milwaukee Mom's Observations

Finally,....I was hoping to get this blog started before
Thanksgiving and then, for sure, before the holidays and suddenly,
I find myself at the beginning of the new year. The fact that it has
taken me so long is hopefully, not necessarily a sign
of procrastination, but merely a reflection of the busy life of a
Milwaukee suburban mom.

For those of you who regularly read the My Community Now blogs, you probably know me from the St. John Vianney School Spotlight, but I also have this other life....

I'm the mom of four rapidly growing children. Somewhere along the
way of booster shots and recitals, changing diapers and arranging
carpools, I realized that I am not so much an expert on parenting (
I'M NOT) but a constant observer of what works and what DOESN'T work
(for me at least). So...My Backyard is an observational and informational blog about parenting in Milwaukee and the surrounding suburbs.

Like many Milwaukee parents, my husband Clem and I try out a lot
of "kid friendly" places in Milwaukee and if we like that place, we go
there constantly. We try out a lot of things with the kids....roller
rinks, open gyms, museums, children's concerts, state and county fairs,
family restaurants. And our kids...well, they've joined every possible
activity out there (hence the reason I live in my car). At times,
these activities can be a little overwhelming, but I've certainly have
learned a lot. So you'll hear a lot of opinions.

Except for a possible posting on the upcoming Inaugural, I'll try to stay out of politics (you can find plenty of other political blogs starting with Brookfield Now.)
Unless your kids collect donkeys or elephants, I can't see where
politics and motherhood blend. On that note, my cousin Carrie, who
lives in Boston, is planning on attending the Inaugural, so if the
opportunity presents itself, I might not be able to resist sharing her
observations. (It is, you gotta agree, a once in a lifetime experience.) Thanks for reading My Backyard.
