Too funny! Before you shared that you had your blade guards on I was going to say: "make sure your skates are sharpened!" I, too, reentered the world of ice skating last year with my kids and if your skates aren't sharpened (this has happened to me at Red Arrow and the Pettit Center) you can't hardly move.

We all have our own skates now, so it is not an issue anymore. It's so much fun!

Hilarious! That was also me last winter! haha! I thought it would be like riding a bike - just hop back on - uh, no. As I was slipping and hanging on to the siderails, my son turned into the adult telling me, "its okay Mom, you can do it!" We plan to attempt the ice skating feat again this winter.

Glad I'm not in this alone....Oh, and about crossing stuff off "The List": No one was called about anything, Santa still hasn't had the pleasure of meeting GG this year, I didn't darken the door of any stores and the Christmas trees remain naked.

All I know is that if I hear Mariah Carey trill about Santa Claus coming to town one more time and Johnny Mathis lilt happily about how it's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas, my head's gonna explode.

Rochelle, that is exactly how it is! Too funny. My little mental check list includes: don't forget to sign up for the next session of gymnastics for Miranda and register online for Riley's little league and get a Christmas gift for my lovely neighbor who keeps plowing my driveway for me. Oh and do I only have that photo mousepad for my mom and dad? I need to get them something other than that! And, ooh, I need a hostess gift for my friend hosting the cookie exchange party tomorow night. The mental checklists and all the little notes written on scraps of paper all over the house go on and on and on...

Hi, BFF Amy here. I totally agree with keeping tooth rewards reasonable. My whole issue here was actually just how do I explain to my daughter why the tooth fairy would give one child $10 and another child considerably less than that. My daughter wasn't sad or disappointed at all with her tooth money; she was just very curious as to why there was a difference. I came up with something like maybe it's the size of the tooth or if it has a filling in it, etc. :)

We have three children and have done the same each time. The first tooth loss was worth 4 quarters and a note from the Tooth Fairy. The paper was in the shape of a large tooth with words like, "Dear..., Congratulations on losing your first tooth. You are very brave. Please remember to brush twice a day to have strong, clean teeth. Love, The Tooth Fairy".

After that, it was sneaking in and putting two quarters under the child's pillow.

That's it! No bicycles! No Big bag of Oreo cookies! No Hard Cash! It's a tooth people!

OK...WAY back when my kids were losing their teeth (probably 10 years ago), I think I probably did a dollar a tooth. And that seemed like a lot. If other parents are paying more than that, then that's their problem. The same thing will happen with allowance, if and when you do that. I think the only time you need to compete in terms of dollars is when you're trying to hold on to a really good babysitter. Otherwise, it's a losing battle.

Loved this post! I have fond memories of crawling on my hands and knees in a darkened bedroom while my kids snoozed away. Those were the days....Now I could set off a grenade in their room and they wouldn't wake up!
