One of his nurses came in when we where there and she had a great conversation with my kids. Like most of us, the kids were a little leary of being in the hospital, but the conversation with the nurse helped them relax a bit.

The kindness of strangers... we could all show a little more this year.

Glad your dad is doing well.

I've heard so many of my friends talking about wanting to do more, but not knowing where to start. Moms are great organizers, planners, and communicators. We have a lot to offer organizations that are making a difference in the community. And this grants writing program would be a great place to start.

My college-age son lost his winter jacket and I have been totally freaking out over this. Yesterday, I was on the phone with him as he was driving home from Indiana. I said: "Do you have plenty of warm clothes and blankets? In case you get stuck, I don't want you to freeze to death!" I had visions of him sitting in the middle of Indiana, shivering because he has no boots and no winter jacket! He's fine and home. I guess my worrying was for naught!

I have heard so many fascinating things while driving carpool. In fact, a mom once gave me an interesting tip. She said to turn your car stereo so that all the sound is in the rear speakers. Then turn the sound up. The kids don't realize it, but they talk louder to hear each other and then you can hear them even better!

Sigh, now that nobody needs me to drive, I don't get to hear those juicy conversations. Enjoy them!
